Social workers are always complaining that they are
over-worked, under-paid and don’t have the time required to
do their job completely and efficiently.
A suggestion to alleviate this problem might be to hire college students who are studying to become social workers to assist social workers with case loads at half the cost of hiring more social workers. They can assist with paperwork, file updates, reviewing each child’s case each month and making recommendations to their social workers. This could conceivably be used as part of their “on the job” training…NOT to preclude or take the place of their 6 month “hands-on” fostering training.
